Jennifer Beals honoured with Caritas Award

Jennifer was honoured last night with the Caritas Award, co-hosted by The Irene Dunne Guild in partnership with the Saint John’s Health Center Foundation board of trustees, the event took place at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Beverly Hills. Jennifer wore a very elegant Roberto Cavalli dress.

The Caritas Gala honours individuals who exemplify dedication and commitment to the community and embody the philosophy and mission of Saint John’s Health Center Foundation.

Looking back- 10th Anniversary of The L Word

It’s been 10 years L Word fans! On January 18, 2004 a brand new drama series called “The L Word” premiered on Showtime, portraying the lives of a group of predominantly lesbian women living in West Hollywood. Most names of the main cast didn’t ring a bell except for the real “Foxy Brown” Pam Grier and the girl from “Flashdance” Jennifer Beals but it was a groundbreaking moment in the history of tv: For the first time ever, a show evolved around a group of strong, successful gay female characters.

Last Monday April 29th Jennifer-Beals.com took part on a press conference call with Jennifer and Troian to discuss their second season of the WIGS series ‘Lauren’ which premieres on Youtube this Friday May 2nd with 12 new episodes.
If you followed the first season you will know that ‘Lauren’ deals with sexual assault in the military and both Jennifer and Troian want to make sure these stories don’t go unheard and although fictionalised, ‘Lauren’ is a brutally honest portrayal of the endless red tape and cold bureaucracy that many victims of sexual assault experience while serving in the military.

It was in the early years of MTV, a revelation in music history, when Paramount Pictures released a movie called “Flashdance” on April 15, 1983.
As we all know, the movie tells the story of Alex Owens (Jennifer Beals) who works as a welder by day and dancer at night. A young girl’s dream of wanting to become a ballet dancer against all odds.

Jennifer Beals receives Ally for Equality Award

Jennifer picked up the Human Rights Campaign’s Ally for Equality Award on Saturday 20th at the gala held at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago.
The award is presented to a non-LGBT figure who demonstrates outstanding support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
