Jennifer Beals leads the stroller brigade to Capitol Hill

Today Jennifer joined a “stroller brigade” of hundreds of parents and their kids in front of the U.S. Capitol to demand action on toxic chemicals. The group was rallying in support of  the late Senator Frank Lautenberg’s Safe Chemicals Act, a bill to overhaul antiquated laws governing toxic chemicals.

“Americans have woken up to the fact that known toxic chemicals get into our homes and our bodies, often through the products we buy, and that the government doesn’t do a thing about it,” said Andy Igrejas, director of Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families, the coalition that hosted today’s event.

Jennifer spoke about toxic chemicals hiding in household products like toys, cosmetics, electronics and flooring. She said : “I am tired of being a detective, hunting the Internet for clues as to what product is safe and what product is not safe and why.”
